The experimental apparatus and procedure were identical with our previous work, and all experiments were performed in a 1.0 L pressure-resistant autoclave (Chen et al., 2013).The reactor was loaded with 75 g chromite ore, 353 g analytical grade KOH (mass ratio of alkali-to-ore is 4:1), and an amount of ultra-pure water.
